We are seeing a lot more bicycles on the road now that we are less than 200 Kms away from Santiago. That is the minimum a cyclist must ride in order to receive a welcome letter. The hotel in Samos was full of teenagers riding to Santiago.
We arrived in Sarria and checked into the Hotel Oca. We are now 112 Kms from finishing. The town is full of people just starting the Camino. They plan to do the minimum walking necessary to get a Compostella. Many are very old. Others are groups of school kids. All of the many Albergues are crowded.
We needed to do laundry and there are none in Sarria according to the hotel. They suggested we go to the municipal Albergue. It was packed, but once we showed our pilgrim credential they let us rent a washer. Ah, clean clothes!
Sarria is a small town and not very attractive from a historical point of view. However the locals are nice and they have an Asian store to shop cheaply. We were surprised to see Palm trees he We are still a long distance from the Atlantic. The river walk is prop ably our favorite part of the town. We are staying two nights to rest up.
We went to the Farmicia to get some Valtorin cream for our aches and to load up on Benedryl. Vic bought a t-shirt, magazines, and hair color. The joys of a town versus a village.
Tomorrow we plan to walk to Portomarin.
