DAY 35 To Portos

We left Portomarin in the fog.  So many people left at the same time it seemed like we were in a parade instead of on a hike.  I must admit I wasn't in the best of moods, the party animals last night had robbed me of sleep. Many were celebrating their first evening on the Camino.

Today was all about covering Kms.  Very little more!  We are road weary and ready to finish.  We took comfort in the knowledge that we planned to stay in Portos tonight.  It is a village of three.  Two Albergues, one with ten beds and a private room; the other with eight and a private room.  Upon arrival, it was everything it promised to be, small and quaint.  Just the kind of stuff that keeps the party folks and the large groups walking to other locales.

We rented the private room in the small Albergue.  There were only two Italian ladies staying in the main room.  Vic and I washed some clothes and relaxed outside in the sun. The courtyard was both inviting and relaxing. We watched as the seemingly endless number of people walked by on the Camino.  We soon wondered how long the lines would be in Santiago to receive our Compostellas.

The sun and it's heat soon brought us to thoughts of southern Spain and it's warm beaches.  We are now resolved to get there after we finish the Camino.  We also grew to appreciate how nice the  garden was at the Albergue.  Many of the private owners go to great effort to make their properties quite nice.  A fact easily overlooked in the hurry of the Camino.  We also appreciated how inviting the Albergue bar was as we set next to the warm hearth and ate our supper.

Tomorrow Melide.
