DAY 17 More rest in Leon

We are enjoying another day of rest in Leon.  It is almost painful to watch Vic mourn about not being able to shop.  She doesn't want anything else in her backpack to carry over the mountains in front of us.  We can see them and know they will challenge us.  Katy bar the door when she gets to Santiago!  A lot of repressed shopping resides in this woman.

To placate her repression she decided to go to a salon and get a haircut. Women!  What's up with that?  She was thrilled to have a shampoo and cream rinse.  We are definitely from two different planets.

My back is still acting up.  We will stay at least four nights in Leon.   Vic sweetened the deal by offering to pay for a night at the Parador San Marcos.  It is the finest hotel on the Camino.  Tom (Martin Sheen) paid for him and his fellow walkers to stay there in the movie "The Way".  Tonight we are still at the Hostal Orejas, so we haven't lost perspective.

Unlike in most of the northern cities in Spain, tapas are usually free with a coffee,  beer, or wine.  They are not as exquisite as in the cities where you pay, but they aren't bad.   One bar brought us either roast pork or ham (at least that's what we going with).  It was Vic's favorite in Leon.  Another bar brought us a half devilled egg (ok maybe) and a large plate of boiled potatoes with spices. Vic asked me if I was going to eat all the potatoes.  I answered yes and blamed it on my Irish blood.

We dined at an Italian restaurant today.  I know, we are in Spain, but the place is packed with locals.  Vic had lasagne and I had a pizza with chorizo sausage and onion; a local favorite.  It was delicious!

Pastries for desert and we are good for another day!
