DAY 18 Splendor in Leon

Maybe there is something to this whole princess business.  After all, Vic has paid for us to stay in the Parador San Marcos.  Opulence is not something I'm accustomed to!   Let's face it, I'm a CPA not given to earthly pleasures in excess.  But I could easily mire myself within it.  While still not forgetting that it was Vic's benevolence that brought us here, I want to pinch myself to ensure that it is real.

It is indeed splendor!  It is amazing how a change in venues, albeit from comfortable to elegance can affect one's attitude and perspective.  I know I'm walking on sunshine for the moment.  My back remains the last vigil of discontent.  What is a back anyway?  At its bottom resides an ass.  Ultreia!

After taking a long bubble bath, Vic insisted I take one too to soothe my back.  I acquiesced.  After soaking a while, I realized the Venusians may be on to something.  As I continued to relax, I reflected upon my thoughts while walking the 139 miles from Pamplona to Burgos.  During our trip and throughout our 42 years of marriage, Vic has usually gone left when right was the correct choice. I often amuse myself by allowing her to get off of the elevator first.  One of my gifts is that I am seldom, if ever, lost.  I have an internal compass spurring me on toward my goals.  I travel at a fast pace.  Not lost or in need.  However, Vic while often lost, is always found.  Usually making a new acquaintance or friend during the mishap.  I can't help but contemplate which of us received the greater gift?
